For many years we have had programs designed to motivate our patients. The best program we ever implemented, which is why we still use it today, is the wooden nickel program. Here’s how it works.
We outlined 4 key areas where we really need patients to help us achieve the best orthodontic result and to finish treatment on time. When we see evidence of great compliance in any of these areas on any active treatment patient, they are awarded a “wooden nickel" as a reward for their efforts. So what can someone earn a wooden nickel for?
- Faithfully following our instructions on wearing removable active appliances such as elastics, headgear, or facemask
- Great brushing/oral hygiene
- Arriving on time for an appointment and not missing the last appointment
- No loose or broken appliances
BONUS: If a patient earns a wooden nickel in all four above areas they will be awarded a fifth bonus nickel!!!
We pledge to our patients and their parents that we will run on time, finish treatment on time, and create a beautiful lasting smile. The above areas, being out of our control, can have a significant negative impact on our goals and yours. We created the wooden nickel program to reward activities that enhance great results.
What can a patient do with his/her nickels? They can BUY THINGS! Patients can trade in their nickels on a myriad of fun toys, movie passes, or restaurant gift certificates. If we don't have the "prize" you want, let us know! We want you to be motivated to earn 5 nickels on every visit!
