Dr. SellkeAbout Dr. Sellke

Born in Chicago in 1947, Dr. Terry A. Sellke is a native Illinoisian. His fervor for "Illinois" extends to his academic background, having enrolled in the University of Illinois undergraduate and dental school. He graduated from dental school in 1971. Two years later, he had achieved a specialty degree in orthodontics. In 1974 he received a master's degree in orthodontics (the same year that he opened the first office of what was to become Drs. Sellke and Reily, Ltd.).

In 1980, Dr. Sellke became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Sellke taught orthodontics at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry for over 35 years, where he earned the titles of full professor, master clinician, co-clinic director, and masters thesis advisor. He lectures domestically and internationally on clinical orthodontics as well as another of his passions, applying business principles to the practice of orthodontics. Dr. Sellke taught more than 20 area orthodontists, but picked Dr. Reily to be his partner.

Good Sam and TerryOther affiliations and accomplishments include serving on the board of directors of the Illinois Orthodontic Alumni Association (26 years), the Lake County Board of Health (16 years), the board of the Foundation for Orthodontic Research (16 years), and serving as the president of each organization at least once. Dr. Sellke was elected to the American College of Dentists by his peers and has been a reviewer for the American Journal of Orthodontics for many years. He has published dozens of articles on orthodontics in professional journals worldwide. His text on the Bioprogressive Orthodontic Philosophy has been translated into four languages.

Gracie and grandpaDr. Sellke's hobbies include golfing, skiing, snorkeling, sailing and, working. (He is a workaholic who loves orthodontics!) He is no good at tennis. Dr. Sellke has been married to his wife, Dee, since 1987. They have two children named Kirk and Kristin, and 3 grandchildren, Gracie, Maddie and Clyde. His dog, Samson, a 6 pound Maltese Terrier, has him wrapped around his paw. The Sellkes live in Libertyville.

Dr. ReillyAbout Dr. Reily

Dr. Donald Reily, born in 1954, is a native of Des Plaines, Illinois and attended Elk Grove High School. By junior year, having worn braces himself, he realized that an orthodontic career offered an exciting opportunity to combine his interests in art, science, and music. And the vision began. His dream was soon realized while working as an orthodontic laboratory technician where he met Dr. Sellke. A long time personal and professional friendship ensued and the rest is history. Dr. Reily completed his undergraduate education at Loyola University in 1975. He received his orthodontic training at the University of Illinois, where he graduated with honors in 1979. He continued on at Illinois, receiving his specialty and masters degree in 1982.

Since graduation, Dr. Reily continues to attend numerous courses and seminars on the practice of orthodontics. He has, like Dr. Sellke, served in all offices of the Lake County Dental Society. Both are members of the American Dental Association, the Illinois and Midwest Orthodontic Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Illinois Orthodontic Alumni Association.

Dr. Reily has an intense passion for his work. He just loves orthodontics and it shows! You'll be comfortable with his easy-going nature and sense of humor. He'll treat you like a member of his family and your children as if they were his own.

When he's not having fun straightening teeth you can usually find Dr. Reily bicycling or celebrating special occasions with his large, extended family. Among his many interests are nutrition, exercise, yoga, hiking, traveling, reading, and live theater.

Dr Reily and familyDr. Reily appreciates the importance of encouraging children and young adults. If you or your child would like to discuss a career in dentistry, let him know. He'll be happy to spend time with you and help in any way.
